I have lovingly nicknamed this 6 feet x 3 feet commission, 'Big Mama.’
This painting discussion/order for the commission came in days before the reality of covid19 hit our every day lives like a ton of bricks. My life abruptly changed with my daughter home full-time, the task of home schooling her, loosing my part time/long time job at Frontier’s closure, and the stress of my husband being an essential worker.
Having this work & focus was a powerful constant in all the chaos. I am so grateful for my patron that despite the unknown decided to follow through with this commission. It was a great experience to work this big again, thrilling as rewarding to be so loose, & to create beauty during such tumultuous times.
Big thanks to my friends at Designs Adrift, for facilitating the photoshoot - check out my friend Michael Fleming’s drift wood work! here.
